Contemporary organizations and communities make increasing use of advanced information system and communication technologies to collaborate and interact with each other in geographically and temporally distributed settings. In broad terms, these are referred to as virtual environments. Examples of such virtual environments include virtual work (encompassing telework and distributed work), virtual teams, or virtual communities.
